Our Story

Mother-daughter studio • Seattle

Handmade talismans
for the everyday.

A mother-daughter studio rooted in Balinese silversmithing, inspired by two worlds, and handcrafted for yours.

Hi! I'm Tashi, and if you've ever stopped by our booth, we've probably already met. I'm usually the one with a mandrel in hand, sizing rings mid-conversation and getting completely derailed by any animal that walks by, including, on one occasion, a pair of ferrets in a backpack.

Talisman is the two of us: me and my mom, Lizzy.

She's the reason I fell in love with jewelry and adornment in the first place.

Growing up watching her work, seeing the way she approaches shape and design, the eye she has for what makes a piece beautiful, that's what opened this whole world up for me.

We started with just a few designs and never imagined it would grow into what it is today. What's made that possible are the people who've connected with our work, shared their stories with us, and given our pieces a place in their lives.

Process

How We Make Everything

Every piece begins as a hand-carved wax model. That carving is used in the lost wax casting process, an ancient technique where the wax is encased in plaster, burned out, and replaced with molten metal poured into the cavity it left behind.

From there, each piece is hand-polished and finished in small batches in our studio. All our metals are nickel-free and made for real everyday wear, because jewelry is meant to be lived in.

This process is rooted in Lizzy's background in traditional Balinese silversmithing and goldsmithing, a craft she has carried her whole life and the foundation of everything we make.

Our worktable, usually covered in wax shavings.

What Makes a Talisman?

For centuries, talismans have been carried as reminders of strength, protection, or memory. That idea guides what we create, but the real meaning always comes from you.

Some customers choose the Lotus as a symbol of resilience, blooming through mud. Others are drawn to the Mountain bands for their steadiness, or the Forest bands for the way they feel rooted in home. The Carpe Noctem rings often become reminders to look for light in darker times, while our sea glass pieces and celestial pieces carry memories of the ocean or the night sky.

Not long ago, someone reached out to tell me that one of our animal pieces had been like a little guardian to them through one of the hardest times of their life. They were doing so much better now, and they just wanted me to know the comfort it had given them.

What makes a talisman special is that it carries something different for everyone who wears one. However it speaks to you, we're so glad it found you.

Our Inspirations

Growing up in Bali and then moving to Seattle, people would ask me why on earth I would leave such a beautiful island for the Pacific Northwest.

Seattle is just as breathtaking, just as rich in nature and history and culture and inspiration. Just entirely its own thing.

I take long nature walks almost every day and am constantly finding something new that stops me in my tracks. The ferns, the forests, the mountains, the foxes and wolves, the creatures of the Puget Sound.

Then there is the other side of what inspires us, the ancient, the celestial, the talismanic. Old books, sacred geometry, and objects people have carried for meaning across centuries.

We hope you find a piece that feels like yours.

We started with just a few designs, and what's kept us going is the way people have connected with them. Thank you so much for being here.
